MangaToucan Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data MangaToucan processes, how that data is used, when that data stays on your device, and what rights and choices may apply. The current version of MangaToucan is designed so core reading enhancement and membership checks operate on-device rather than through a general MangaToucan account backend.

1. What data the app processes

The app may process and locally store a limited set of personal or device-linked data, including:

This data is primarily stored in local app storage on your device.

2. How sign-in data works

If you choose Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, or local email sign-in, the app may receive identity data such as your email address, a provider identifier, or profile details made available by that provider or by your local input. In the current version of MangaToucan, this identity data is used locally on the device for profile continuity and onboarding state. It is not intended to create a general MangaToucan server-side user account database in the ordinary course of app use.

3. StoreKit and billing data

Paid access is determined through Apple StoreKit. The app may read product identifiers, entitlement status, renewal or expiration dates made available by StoreKit, purchase state, and restore state. MangaToucan does not directly receive or store your full payment-card number. Apple manages billing credentials, trial eligibility, renewal behavior, refund workflows, and many purchase records under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.

4. Reading and image processing

The app is designed so supported manga image colorization happens on-device. MangaToucan is not intended to send your manga pages, reading URLs, browsing history, third-party manga-site credentials, or page images to a general MangaToucan colorization backend in the current version of the app. The app may still display third-party websites you choose to access, and those websites may independently collect data under their own policies.

5. How we use data

Local app data is used to operate the app, preserve your local sign-in state, determine whether a valid membership entitlement is active, personalize onboarding state, support restore and upgrade flows, present settings information such as renewal date or lifetime status, and fulfill export or deletion actions requested from within the app.

6. Legal bases

Where required by applicable law, MangaToucan may rely on legal bases such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the app, compliance with legal obligations, or your consent where consent is required.

7. Sharing and third parties

MangaToucan does not operate a general account backend that ordinarily receives your local profile data in the ordinary course of app use. However, Apple, Google, your email provider, device platform services, and any third-party websites you open in the app may process data necessary to provide authentication, billing, subscription management, communications, hosting, rendering, or platform services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or prevent fraud or abuse.

8. Retention

Local account, onboarding, and membership-display data remains on your device until you sign out, use Delete Account Data, uninstall the app, clear device storage, or overwrite the data with newer local state. Deleting local account data in the app deletes the local profile data controlled by the app on that device, but it does not cancel Apple subscriptions, erase Apple purchase history, or delete data retained by Apple, Google, email providers, or third-party websites under their own policies.

9. Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used for the data under MangaToucan’s control. Because the app stores profile state locally, your privacy and security also depend on the security of your device, operating system, Apple account, Google account, app backups, and other software installed on the device. No method of storage, transmission, or identity verification can be guaranteed completely secure.

10. Children and minors

MangaToucan is not intended for children or minors under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided personal data to the app or used the app in violation of this restriction, contact MangaToucan@gmail.com.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or complain about the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. In the app, you can export local account data and delete local account data from Settings. If you use Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, or Apple billing, some requests may also need to be directed to those providers because MangaToucan does not control all provider-held data.

12. International processing

If data is processed by Apple, Google, email providers, platform services, or other third parties outside your jurisdiction, those activities may involve countries with privacy laws that differ from those in your home country. Where MangaToucan is responsible for a transfer, it aims to rely on an appropriate lawful mechanism where required by applicable law.

13. Third-party services and websites

This Privacy Policy applies to MangaToucan’s own processing. Third-party websites viewed through the app, and third-party providers such as Apple and Google, maintain their own privacy notices, security practices, retention periods, and legal obligations. Review their policies before using those services.

14. Policy updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, billing changes, or operational needs. If material changes are made, notice may be provided in the app or by another appropriate method.

15. Contact

For privacy questions, rights requests, or data concerns, contact MangaToucan@gmail.com. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local privacy or data-protection regulator.
